Peter Drucker QuotesWow! That was arduous, but I managed (ha!) to get in a whole bunch of Peter Drucker Quotes. There are a number of them out there which are quite similar to one another, much like Abraham Maslow.
I imagine, since he has written so many books and papers on the same topics, he just paraphrases himself, and the quotes are actually all valid. However, since they say basically the same thing, I've commented on the original quote with the paraphased quotes. If you notice any duplicates that I missed (I sure hope not), please let me know, and I'll get right on it. Here are a few of the Maslow quotes I've become most fond of. See if they tickle your fancy as much as they do mine.
A first-rate soup is more creative than a second-rate painting.
A husband's conviction that his wife is beautiful, or a wife's firm belief that her husband is courageous, to some extent creates the beauty or the
courage. This is not so much a perception of something that already exists as a bringing into existence by belief.
A stupid man behaves stupidly, not because he wants to, or tries to, or is motivated to, but simply because he is what he is.
Dispassionate objectivity is itself a passion, for the real and for the truth.
Even the 'bad' choice is 'good for' the neurotic chooser.
I have discovered the missing link between the anthropoid apes and civilized men. It's us!
If I were dropped out of a plane into the ocean and told the nearest land was a thousand miles away, I'd still swim. And I'd despise the
one who gave up.
If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.
Sickness might consist of not having symptoms when you should.
The good society is one in which virtue pays.
The lover perceives in the beloved what no one else can.
The more evolved and psychologically healthy people get, the more will enlightened management policy be necessary in order to survive in
competition and the more handicapped will be an enterprise with an authoritarian policy.
The really bright student, the eager questioner, the probing searcher, especially if he is brighter than his teacher, is too often seen as a
'wise guy,' a threat to discipline, a challenger of his teacher's authority.
We fear to know the fearsome and unsavory aspects of ourselves, but we fear even more to know the godlike in ourselves.
What shall we think of a well-adjusted slave?
Who is to say that a lack of love is less important than a lack of vitamins?Posted Monday, January 21, 2008 @ 9:04 PM | 0 Comments Marilyn and BobbyI just added, due to popular demand, a bunch of Marilyn Monroe and Bob Marley quotes. Yeah, I know, not quite the Marilyn and Bobby you were thinking of -- but that's me: Captain Irony. I had a bunch of placeholder pages, and people were headed there, ever-so-saddened by the lack of actual quotes on those pages. But nevermore (Raven) -- their needs will now be fulfilled. I've also been adding some more dimension to a number of the quotes providing interpretations and backstories for them to make the quote more meaningful and moving. Posted Saturday, August 18, 2007 @ 8:50 AM | 0 Comments Wilde about QuotesSeeing a number of people looking for some Oscar Wilde quotes on Weddings and Marriage, I decided to seriously beef up the inventory of Oscar Wilde quotes here on Famous Quotes. I added all that I could find about relationships, love, marriage, etc, 117 of them, to be exact. (Update: There are now 211 of them -- and I think I'm done.) The man was quite prolific, so it will take some time to get all of his quotes added.
Also, I've seen a few people trying to comment on some of the quotes, but apparently, they're getting an error or something. I'm working on that, and hope to have it resolved in the near future. Posted Monday, July 30, 2007 @ 3:00 PM | 0 Comments Henry Ford and Dates of BirthThere have been quite a few new Henry Ford Quotes added. They're not all categorized as perfectly as they could, so please feel free to send me your suggestions as far as where the various quotes should go and into what categories the saying should be filed. In addition, the biographies are being updated a bit, as well as the birth date and date of passing. Look forward to more activity in the near future. Posted Thursday, July 12, 2007 @ 1:53 PM | 0 Comments Graduation QuotesYeah, I know it's late, and I missed the boat, but I added a few Graduation Quotes that I found interesting. Posted Monday, May 29, 2006 @ 4:53 PM | 0 Comments Best Friends and Unknown AuthorsAdded quotes to Best Friend Quotes, and created a logging class, so I can see the quote sections people are going to. This should help me better understand everyone's interests, enabling me to fill the greater demand sections sooner.
In populating the Best Friend Quotes, I stumbled across a new concept -- that of the "Unknown author." Apparently, the quote gets bastardized by one citer after another, passing them around through email chains or what-have-you, each causing further obfuscation of the original author and/or original quote itself.
So, rather than having a specific "author" referred to as the "unknown author" cf:unknown comic, it seems rather that this author is a non-author, so to speak. And as such, this author shouldn't have it's own page and list of all quotes by them, and so forth. Does that seem reasonable?
Let me know your thoughts on this.
Here's the affected quote: Good friends are like stars. Posted Wednesday, November 23, 2005 @ 10:13 AM | 0 Comments Authors list and Author BreadcrumbsThe Authors page now actually shows all of the authors. How about that? They're even ordered by surname. Crazy!
I'm going to put something in there so that there's a listing of all the various first letters of the last names, so that there's a form of "guide words" navigation.
Also added is slightly more effective breadcrumb navigation for topics and authors. I'm a little torn about how to handle breadcrumb navigation for the actual quotes, as they could be considered quotes from an author, quotes by a topic, or quotes with a specific keyword. Perhaps I should put some sort of tracking in there regarding the referrer, so that the breadcrumbs are dynamic depending upon the referring page. That'll be a "later" feature, perhaps. I guess I'll just go with the quotes by Author assumption for now, since there are many topics to which a quote could be associated. Given that, it will require a bit of logic to resolve the specific topic in the breadcrumb path -- and there are many things far less functional which should be added, imho.
